Widely regarded as one of Australia's most compelling pianists, Stefan Cassomenos returns to the keyboard for an exclusive, up-close recital at Kawai Brisbane — a single evening, performed just metres from the audience.

Across a program spanning Beethoven, Chopin, the Liszt–Verdi opera paraphrases and the music of Australia's own Carl Vine, Stefan moves from the thunder of the Romantic repertoire to the colour of the contemporary, drawing on the fearless, deeply expressive playing that has won him admirers on stages around the world.

    About Stefan Cassomenos

    Internationally praised for his clarity, depth of expression, virtuosity and versatility, Melbourne-born pianist, composer, arranger and conductor Stefan Cassomenos has been performing internationally since the age of 10, and with more than 20 years representing Australia on the world stage is now established as one of the country's leading musicians.

    In 2013 he was a grand finalist and winner of both the Second Grand Prize and the Chamber Music Prize at the prestigious International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn. His concerto repertoire now exceeds forty works, performed with orchestras including the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn, Malta Philharmonic and Melbourne Symphony, and he has given recitals at Tonhalle Zürich, Gewandhaus Leipzig and the Beethoven Festival Bonn.

    An adventurous programmer and prolific composer, he is founder of contemporary ensemble PLEXUS and Artistic Director of the Port Fairy Spring Music Festival.
